The 9-1-90s Origin Story
Why us? Why now?
We didn't come together to form a 90s tribute band...it just organically happened that way.
It started with a post by Mark in a Facebook group made up of Raleigh musicians seeking other musicians. Mark missed playing guitar with other artists, and posted that he was looking for a singer. Jay responded, and they started sharing music they both enjoyed performing.
The next step was a ballooning Excel spreadsheet of artists, titles, and YouTube links and weekly practices. The goal from the beginning was to find super familiar, fun, sing-a-long songs that would make audiences of all ages smile, just as they did for us.
The result of the process is 9-1-90s, a tribute band based in 90s Pop, Rock, and Pop Rock with a few songs that "bend" the era rules from time to time. We like to say we're 91% 90s.
But we're always 100% fun

The artist formerly known as Foster on 96rock in Raleigh from 2003-2013 has performed in several bands, including an all-star music industry band that performed at the House of Blues in Los Angeles and opened for the Iguanas at the legendary Tipitina's in New Orleans, and Radiowave, comprised of 96rock DJs Foster, Alli Morgan, Salt, Demetri The Greek, Adam 12, and Jamie O'Brien.
Nothing makes him happier than a live performance singing songs people love.
